{"id":276,"date":"2009-03-04T02:22:25","date_gmt":"2009-03-04T10:22:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/?p=276"},"modified":"2011-06-30T00:24:15","modified_gmt":"2011-06-30T08:24:15","slug":"wondercon-2009-and-kinokuniya-san-francisco","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/2009\/03\/04\/wondercon-2009-and-kinokuniya-san-francisco\/","title":{"rendered":"WonderCon 2009 and Kinokuniya San Francisco"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.comic-con.org\/wc\/\" target=\"_blank\">WonderCon 2009<\/a><\/strong> and after that I took a quick trip to the <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bookweb.kinokuniya.co.jp\/indexohb.cgi?AREA=03\" target=\"_blank\">Kinokuniya Store<\/a><\/strong> in San Francisco, CA.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday was practically a 12hr day for me, from getting up at 7am to getting back home at 7pm, and a lot of fun and discovery in between.<\/p>\n<p>I purchased a ticket in advance, so that saved me from standing in one of two lines inside of the Moscone Center. There was however a very long line outside that wrapped around the block on the way in. I recall I purchased a couple issues of the comic GROO (which I found yesterday along with my old incomplete collection of Thor &#8211; from 1984 &#8211; amazing that so many years have passed and I still have them)<\/p>\n<p><em>Image no longer available<\/em><\/p>\n<p>As you can see this was one busy day! I also had a chance to attend a few panels \/ presentations and visit Enrico and his\u00a0 friends (in two separate booths).<\/p>\n<p>Below is a copy of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.enricocasarosa.com\/mia.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mia<\/a><\/strong> by Enrico and a copy of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.roseandisabel.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Rose and Isabel<\/a><\/strong> comic by Ted Mathot &#8211; read both comics non-stop in one sitting, and now I want to know what happens next.<\/p>\n<p>I have been following Ted&#8217;s blog for a while and just recently started to read some of his old posts. There is quite a lot of information there to learn from\u00a0 (thank you for taking the time to share).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-277\" title=\"mia_rose_isabel\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/mia_rose_isabel.jpg\" alt=\"mia_rose_isabel\" width=\"425\" height=\"266\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/mia_rose_isabel.jpg 425w, https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/mia_rose_isabel-300x187.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 425px) 100vw, 425px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lastly, I managed to take a quick trip to the <strong>Kinokuniya<\/strong> store in San Francisco, with the only mission of finding those pencils (I was also out of time, so it had to be a quick visit).<\/p>\n<p>I found both brands I was looking for but for the <strong>Tombow Mono 100<\/strong>, you have to purchase the whole box and they didn&#8217;t have the grade I wanted,\u00a0 so I just purchased (<strong>Mitsubishi Hi-uni<\/strong>) pencils, two for my wife and two for me&#8230; to try them out (2B and 5B).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-278\" title=\"unipencils\" src=\"https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/unipencils.jpg\" alt=\"unipencils\" width=\"485\" height=\"469\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/unipencils.jpg 485w, https:\/\/www.imageswithin.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/03\/unipencils-300x290.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 485px) 100vw, 485px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That was one busy Saturday!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This past weekend I had the opportunity to attend WonderCon 2009 and after that I took a quick trip to the Kinokuniya Store in San Francisco, CA.
