Dog Sketches

Here are some sketches I have been doing lately of our dog (long hair chihuahua). These are done on a doddle pad (newsprint) with a regular pen.

  1. Hi Gus, I’ve been reading about your watercolor frustrations and wanted to comment on it. I’m surely not an expert but I am experienced in the frustration department. I’ve been painting, on and off, most of my life and have taken and given lessons many times. Looking at your work, I find I’m drawn back again and again to this little sketch. It’s loose and light and just begging for a splash of color on it in the same loose style. Paint out of the lines and let the color blend on the paper rather than the pallet. I’d love to see what you come up with. Lib

  2. Sorry for the long delay to respond.

I was actually trying to do the opposite of what I normally do. My sketches/drawings are pretty tight, not loose. This little guy is such a challenge for me, and I tell him to stop moving around but he doesn’t pay attention 🙂 – I will try.

    Thank you for your comment.
